The granite quarry opened in the early 1850's, with the stone being shipped to destinations world wide.
Although it closed in the early 1970's, the granite is still in demand and is now most notably used to create curling stones; Trefor granite was in use during the 2006 Winter Olympics, and very probable during this year's games.
There's even a nice image of the mountain on Canada Curling Stone Co.'s web site!
Anyhow here are some images of the various 'pieces' of stone laying around, in one part of the old quarry.
