I've been wasting my time with the long telephoto lenses. This macro lens works just fine.

Thanks for looking Dave. Very kind.

I was about 4 to 5 feet as I recall.

I agree Tom. Get the macro on. That is pretty good getting that close. I know how hard that is. Next month I am going back to shooting birds / wildlife to give my Landscape a rest before headed to The Rockies for a week. Great shot., JIM

Thanks Jim,

I've got into a bit of a rut with my equipment. This macro hasn't seen the light of day for ages. It's about time I put it back into the rotation. It makes you think a little differently about what you have to do to get the shot.

This is such a wonderful capture that one wonders why long lenses are invented.
Incredible! Next time you have to step back to get the whole tiny bird into one frame....Hats off!

Outstanding capture. The rendering of the breast feathers is astonishing!

Thanks Rense,

I'm not about to throw out the telephotos yet. This is the only bird I've been able to get this close to. Others haven't been nearly as cooperative.

I really like this shot. The texture and the sharpness really make it work.

Thanks SMC. It's not often the birds let you close enough to take advantage of the extra sharpness a macro lens brings to the table.
