4x4 Action
Lens: 55mm Camera: K200D Photo Location: Atlantis Dunes near Cape Town SA ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F8

I preferred to crop this image thinking the vehicle was to small for impact on the original. But then the impact of the CP on the sky and the size of the dune is somewhat lost. Which do you think looks better?

i think the first one looks better. however, if the SUV was not in the center of the frame the second could look interesting too.

also, is that an elbow sticking out of the window? it looks weird

I much prefer the first (closer) one. Is it possible to show a bit more detail in the sand? Some pretty interesting contrast in this shot...

Thanks pd_red and goddo31. You confirmed my bias.

Yes, it is an elbow...(all LR's have to have an elbow handing out of them. I drive a T)..and I have to agree it does look at bit wierd. Probably the high contrast which is straight out the camera, and which I like for this shot.

I can show more detail in the sand, but only at the expence of starting to yellow the sand. Not very proficient with PP. I tried easyHDR LDR (low dynamic range enhancement), but that just made it plain or more wierd. The sand is really that white and very blinding to drive on, but the sky is a bit over done from the CP.

I think you should crop with a view to arranging the vehicle away from dead centre. It does not have to be in the so-called interesecting thirds, but somewhere off centre.

Damn ... 4WDing on dunes like that in the middle of the day takes some balls and skill .. especially when there's no shadows over ridges.

The sands are very white as well ... must be a very high scilica content sand.

I don't mind the original.
