I really like this, but can't say why

I was down at my neice's house today and this little guy shows up. I grab the camera and adjust things, then shoot. I like this, but can't really say why.

It is well composed and has a very nice softness to while maintaining a good amount of detail. The eyes are sharp and you can see the catch light. I know why I like it

Dave, thanks for the comments. And glad you like it too.

Jord, this was a kind of cloudy day so that may be why it looks like it was shot on that infinite white set. Glad you liked it.

I dig the ethereal look of this shot a great deal. I like crisp, contrast bird shots, but this image is a delightful counterpoint to the usual.

Nick, thanks for the comments. I looked again and now kind of agree with you. It does have that chinese painting look to it.

And Jer. Always welcome your comments. Glad you liked it. Thanks.

I was about to say the same thing, Nick. Photolady, the photo has that graceful elegance I always associate with Chinese or Japanese art. I feel like painting it!

Thanks Tamia. I was trying to see what it was I seeing, and it took Nick to point it out. This is why I really like it. I think I'm going to enlarge and print it myself for hanging.

Although it's soft, I like it too, very much! It must be the paint-like look that attracts me.
Thanks for showing!

Although I usually prefer this soft look with flowers as opposed to bird phtos...I find this photo refreshingly different and more like a paintingl!

You got lucky...but I must say, it does have a pastal/water-color appeal. Almost like fogging the lens with a short breath.. I like it.

But I guess the SR on the later models would fix this 1/2" of camera shake...and make it a plain bird on a bird bath.
