Adelaide Festival's Northern Lights Display
Posted By: UltraWide, 03-20-2010, 11:19 PM

Another SA Pentaxian's outing. Only two of us but since the Festival is in full swing and parking is at a premium i'm not that surprised.

The Northern Lighs display has nothing to do with the Aurora. This a a light display to illuminate buildings along North Terrace in a way which compliments the architecture.

So, on with the show...

Fascinating series that's very well done - you must be a night photography expert. I never have seen buildings illuminated in such a detailed way - I can see why the festival would draw crowds.

Nice series Wynston! Well done. Seems that 10-20mm is sharp enough (little joke we had running all night)

'Twas a good night! I seem to have lots of ghosts walking through mine though !!!!

Anyway, must post a few of mine that show how they changed on the one building when I get around to it (got a great sequence by the library) but we can't do animations here to show it.

Cheers

Thanks guys for the kind words.

It was a pleasant night out with those soft 10-20s
Look forward to seeing yours, Chris.

As for being a night photography expert, all you need is a sturdy tripod and a little patience. And some reasonably well lit targets
Bringing the remote may have helped as well

Thank god they are ghosts!!! I thought I had one too many reds...

btw..All done with the K7 and Sigma 10-20 (the 'old' one)

Still have to try and make it out to shoot them myself, would have tried for Saturday night but got "stuck" doing election coverage with the Sunday Mail.

As promised - and sorry to crash in on the thread Wynston - but here are a few more from Saturday night - again with a Sigma 10-20mm (old version) and my K200D (on a tripod with a remote ).....

[Click on an image to see it enlarged]

Firstly - an illustration of the sequence of light changes on one building (usually 6 different projections onto the building) - the State Library Institute Building on the corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue

Then we decided to get a little artistic - well thats how my getting down on my knees was described by my fellow photographer - some reflections of the museum.....

And finally, some shots of Elder Hall (named after one of the founding fathers who also created a very large financial and farm service business that still bears his name)

The last image includes the Sturt Desert Pea - our state floral emblem

BTW - this lasts until Easter Monday - so there is still time to see it

Cheers

Hi Chris

You're very welcome to "crash in on the thread"
As always a pleasant evening's entertainment...

Good to see you are 'creative' not just taking them but also displaying them!!
It didn't occur to me to try a sequence. Must be getting old, <sigh>

"with a remote )....."

Jolly joker...enough with the remote...
