Couple Of Self Portraits Outdoor With 540GZ Flash
Lens: 50mm Camera: K7 Photo Location: My House ISO: 100 Shutter Speed: 1/150s Aperture: F6.7

The never ending quest for a decent FB profile picture. Use the 540gz flash outdoors on camera with a diffuser, metered off the sky. And used some Photoshop retouching. I use the FA50 here at 7.1

Used dodge and burn on my sunglasses to enhance the reflection.

And one of my cats with the 50-135mm (which has to go in for repair tomorrow GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR) I actually tightly cropped this one.

First one looks more natural than the second. and the pole cutting off your arm in second detracts from the shot a little i think (think its accentuated being the same colour as the wall). Cat looks a bit cute too.

The night series is cool.
Good lighting and balanced exposure.
Well done.

I finally figured out how to use the 540gz lol, well not quite but I have a tripod now.

Although night is tricky, trying to get the exposure right so the sky isn't noisy is a pain, even at 100iso the dark sky can still be quite noisy esp when the fill and exposure is tweaked and I really find using NR isn't good.

The hardest bit is getting the focus right as I am on my own, I use a 12sec timer and given that its pitch black I have to guess the focus, although I found a little torch in the pose position does help lol.

Here's another....pretty much untouched. Done with the FA50

In regards to the 2nd one...why would I get a noisy sky even at 100 iso? i'm guessing thats from underexposure?

I like your first 2 night shots.
Very good composition and color, especially the first one with the slight orange sunset color on the background.
I know how hard it is to lock focus for self portrait. I tried to use wireless remote control to focus but finally gave up. I ended up focus manually and use the remote just to trigger after I'm in ready position.

As for noise in ISO100, the only explanation I can think of is that you underexpose too much on the original shot and then try to pull it in PP.
Did you shoot in RAW or JPEG? This will make a big difference.
