After the Flood
Lens: 55 Camera: k200d ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/350s Aperture: F9.5

These are more news than art but I thought I'd share. When the river rises before the ice melts, the rising water carries the broken ice onto the dry land about 100 yards in this area. 20 yds short of the houses.











Oh well, I guess its just water over the dam now.

#5 and #2 are great... To someone who is not familiar with having ice about it was odd to see dirty ice, it makes sense that ice could get dirty but something i had never considered. I always just imagine it as clean, clear and pure.

Yeah this is not glacial ice from pure mountain steams and it flows on to be the "the muddy Mississippi" Here is a some that is fresher and thus more pure white. I also was amazed at the perfect rectangles and triangles formed naturally. At one time men would cut chunks of the river ice and sell it door to door for peoples "ice boxes"

Thanks for asking but my house is up and away from this area but people upstream from this spot were not so lucky and just today they are starting to clean out the mud in their homes. I would like to be there next time at the moment. It must be quite a sight and I wonder what it sounds like.
