Was down at my favorite park today, hoping to get some Ibis shots, but saw this bird instead.

Great Blue Heron

Fishing for dinner

Unusual pose

Thanks Rense.

I just noticed one photo didn't show. I missed the first bracket. It's fixed now.

Heinrich, thank you very much. And you're welcome.

I've got more, but these are the best of the bunch so far. I was trying to a shot of the light in his eye, but every time he turned that way, soon as I focused he turned his head. Darn it.

Thanks ajuett. Yes, it was sunny today and I was there after 2pm. It's getting closer to spring weather here, which I am very happy about. Means I can get out more often.

Thanks Jan. "Luckylady" I guess I could deal with that.

Btw, just so you all know, these were all handheld shots.

This is a great photo! The droplets show so much action that you were patient enough to capture (of course, you don't see much of the bird, but, oh well).

Thanks dragonfly. This is why I love shooting birds. You never know what you can get if you're patient enough.

I believe one can still tell it's a Great Blue Heron just by the size and color. There aren't many birds with this coloring or size.
