Sure it is possible, it's probably 100% crop. Looks similar in size to a DA 55-300 shot I made a couple of years ago.

you guys obviously haven't taken any moon shots with your 300. I have the 55-300 and know you can get that particular size from a crop but not the details shown in that picture.

I did not use a TC, it was cropped. I have since taken a few with my TC but none as good as this one. I am waiting for the full moon this tuesday and try another one. I prefer to take half moon, as there is more detail.

Thanks for the comments!!

Very nice detail--I'm seriously thinking of getting the sigma "BIGMA" for Pentax but i'll wait until the user reviews are in before i plunk down the $1600 that it will be selling for.I've been using my 70-300mm quantaray for the moon shots that i have taken . My moon shot avitar was shot with it. Hopefully the "BIGMA" will do an acceptable shot of the moon and other telephoto subjects.I see that your from Maine. We were just on vacation with friends who live on the shores of Sebago in Soth Casco.--charliezap

Thank You charliezap I too have shot with my Quantaray 70-300mm, the photo attached was taken last fourth of July in Bath, Maine. I spent 1200.00 on my Sigma, lot of money but I wanted it

You can get the details Suzu got from a full crop. Sturdy tripod is #1 and a 2sec timer helps too.

yah I guess so I handheld mine at about 800th sec. Probably need to change my aperture <smaller> and use a tripod for that kind of clarity.
