Tamron 70-300 with 1.4 TC and monopod
Posted By: cutterpup, 07-12-2007, 08:38 AM

I forgot that I even had a tamron AF 1.4 TC, so I matched it to my Tamron 70-300, put it on a monopod and went outside.

I would def stay away from using this combination of lens and TC because the image quality doesnt look too good at all. The lens by itself may be fine but this image just looks realy bad, sorry to be harsh.

No, harsh is good, that is why I posted it. Thank you for being honest. I can deal well with it and learn.

I would agree with you from a photographic point of view, however from an artistic point of view it made a wonderful picture that looks like a really nice painting.

So it really depends upon what you want at the time.

hmm yes the iq looks not too good, but the sharpness seems decent. i like the image the composition is nice you captured the squirrel in a nice position.

i dunno...to me this looks like an image that has gotten too hefty curves treatment, its like the colors are getting unatural.

did you shoot this in jpeg? did you do any PP on it?

Yea the 1.4TC is causing really harsh bokeh and CA problems. Try without. If anything, take the shot from where you were and then move closer. If the squirrel gets spooked, you can just crop the first shot.
