Living on the edge (macro)
Posted By: mikerigel, 07-12-2007, 03:47 PM

Just found this cool little guy on the orange tree... unfortunately, the batteries in my flash were almost dead so the shot was pretty underexposed... which brought a fair amount of noise. I played with it on photoshop, putting the spider on its own layer, then applied a soft focus effect on the background to "treat the noise"....

It's beautiful, the spider look unreal, like something out of Stanford Nanotechnology lab

Great sharp spider shot Mike. Wouldn't want to meet a scaled up version of him though.

Oh this is just fantastic!

That silvery leg dangling over the edge, in critical focus, is superb. The spider looks like he's wearing a jeweled crown Either that, or it's of the current generation of nanobots... haha.

Very nice work!

Thank you everyone!! I'm sure glad I didn't trash the original and spent the time to post- process it.. I have many jumping spiders around my property but this one is the first I saw with extra long front legs....

Great shot, Mike!

I tried just today to get some macro photos of bees and butterflies and know how difficult it is.

sometimes the ones you don't think are keepers are better than the keepers after a bit of thoughtful PP'ing.

It's creepy ... but intriguing at the same time though.
It's a great shot though ... almost surreal.
