I really liked the photo Rense....however...I liked it better before I knew what it was Unique photos and info

Hard to imagine that the two photos are the same creature as they look nothing alike. The last looks like a miniature armadillo!

Interesting subject and the reflective surface really enhances them.
I like it!

Thanks! It is as with an armadillo: it rolls when in danger. That's how they look so differently....

That's really good Rense. Amazing the difference. Just for fun, you should merge the 2 images. it might be interesting as well.

well blow me down.......I thought it was a seed pod till my daughter pointed out it was a slater! Tha was before I saw the second pic! Thats brilliant!
Can I ask how you did the whole black mirrored effect?

Yes of course you may ask. It's a small 15x15cm black shiny tile (used in bathrooms etc.). When you use flash right, you get a more or less even black background, with the object mirrored. I have to adjust the background though, because every tiny spot, hair, sand, whatever...., is very obvious. So for the first one I did some PP work in PS, filling the background with one colour from the background (almost black). For the second one I did all adjustments in Lightroom.
