Nature The elusive Heron

Was waiting for another photo op to develop when luck came my way. The shot I was hoping for didn't manifest and I was getting ready to leave when this beautiful heron dropped in. Equipped with only a 250 zoom I was fortunate to get as close as I did. I've tried before to approach herons' with little luck. Patience does pay off.

Fine bird you found. Not only got your shot, but added a couple BIFs and one with his meal ticket punched. Pretty nice series. You even got in some great looking water flows for backdrop.

and yes....the older the GBH is, the less likely you get to the distance you need. At least its that way around my coast.

Took me a long time to figure out how to get close to these beautiful birds. Nicely done. Love Heron shots. I have shot 100's with only a few keepers. JIM

Jimbo, I don't take credit for finding out the secret on how to get close to these birds. This one came to me but pure chance of being in the right place at the right time.
