Autumn floribunda

Whilst our northern hemisphere cousins thaw out of a long cold winter, we in the south are entering autumn (aka fall) - warm days, cool nights, and the smell of autumn.

Remarkably, there are still plenty of flowering plants putting on a show. I took the Tammy 90 out again for a play after my wife expressed a wish to see all the roses and dahlias in full flower.

Here's a selection from today [click to view full size images] - that Tamron 90 is everything they say about it!

First some Sturt Desert Pea - state floral emblem.......

and in close up....

Then to the National Rose Trial Garden (testing of new hybrids in the Aussie climate). These stood out......but there are hundreds more!

...and one of the impressive trial roses......

and the almost Kodachrome red of this Meilland rose.....

Then the dahlias - amazing variety here......had some fun with backlighting and bokeh here.....

and this little fella was one of many........the Tammy earnt its keep here!

then some fill flash.....

and a favourite (the bokeh and the dark background hit me straight away) - although I think I should clone out that yellow flower on top...

and finally, this bark texture caught my eye in the afternoon sun....

There are a few more in Botanic Gardens - Autumn 2010 - Tamron 90 again

Two things I'm learning about the Tammy - zoom with your feet and when you get in close, stop right down!!!

Thanks for looking

And a Happy Easter to all!

Cheers

Absolutely beautiful!

Re cloning out the yellow flower, I'd leave it. If you clone it out, you'll have pretty much a black hole there. IMHO, the yellow flower helps to convey the red flower is not out there alone.

Thankyou - I really appreciate the feedback. Your right about leaving that big black space at the top of the red dahlia. I'll keep cogitating - maybe change to a square format (there have been a few at my camera club.....)

Cheers

Really nice shots, the colors and details are great. My favorite is the second one with those really cool looking flowers, I have never seen flowers like that before.

Thanks for sharing!

I think the flowers your referring to are Sturt's Desert Pea - follow the link if your interested.

The others are dahlia and rose hybrids - some that aren't commercial releases.
