Macro with DAL 55-300mm?
Lens: 300mm Camera: K100D Super ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/2000s

Hi,

OK, so we all know the DAL 55-300 IS NOT a macro lens. But that doesn't mean I can't have fun trying.....
Here's a yellow little butterfly that just stopped for a second. Enough to get shot
f7.1 and -0.3 comp
300mm FL

Just having fun...

Thanks,

Love it; even the color combination was on your side on this one. Well done.

Very interesting to see how close you can get without a macro lens.

Colors and composition are really nice - I have the DA 55-300mm and have used it the same way, but with bees!!

The 55-300 may not be close-focus, but its potential for this kind of shooting is under-emphasized. Very nicely done, those colors really zing

Great picture. I just recently got the dal 55-300 and have limited use with it, but so far I'm impressed.

That is a great shot using the 55-300 lens. Great result.
How much cropping, if any, did you do on this shot?

Pretty shot. You can do "real" macro with the 55-300 if you add on a diopter lens such as the Raynox DCR-150 or DCR-250.

Bruce: Sorry, I just noticed your question now. I did a moderate crop on this one. Maybe about 25 - 30%

Thanks,
