Totally imprumptu wedding! (story + photos)
Posted By: mikerigel, 07-17-2007, 08:48 AM

Here's some photos of an event I wasn't expecting at all... during my trip to California, while shooting the famous Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco, this car parks next to us and this freshly married couple comes out! They starting to take photos but the only photographer they have is this young teenager (the bride's sister) with a tiny point & shoot.
So after a few minutes, I just introduced myself to them and asked if they wanted me to take a few shots, they gladly accepted and the teenager actually told me: "Thank you so much, you must be heaven sent!" And I was like, actually no, I'm from Florida.

So now you know the story, here's some of the photos. it was the end of the day so the sun gave us a nice warm evening light.

I only had a few minutes there so I gave them my email address and they now have the photos.
I was pretty happy about helping them, they didn't seem like they had much money so they couldn't afford a photographer.

Thanks for looking!

Great series. Lucky couple that you were there at the right moment. The light is great and the couple look great. My particular fav's would be the B&W's but I always think B&W does a better job in many wedding shots. The first shot is a keeper as well.

Congrats to you for making the gesture to offer them a wedding present that will last a lifetime.

Just goes to show how nice Pentax people are!!! Lol

Nice story and great pictures Mike. Lighting worked well. I especially like the composition of the first.

I thought Florida was Heaven?!

Excellent job! If it were my wedding I would be very proud to show the world the great pictures you took.

I expect something nice to be coming your way soon, I mean I honestly think if you do something nice it comes back to you (maybe a limited or a 16-50mm). I think this was such a great gesture on your part. What a great story, great pictures.

Great pictures! I'm certain they will be thrilled.
Even better yet is the story that goes with it.

Way to go!

Very good pics! I bet that couple is eternally thankful now. I know I would be.
And yes, I do believe that you just earned yourself a bucketload of good karma.

If you happen to mail them again, tell that all of Pentaxforums sends their regards

What a wonderful story! It is true that you meet some of the nicest people on this forum. Not only have you given this couple a most wonderful wedding gift (and an unexpected one at that), but you have given them a great story to share with friends and family for years to come.

Number 3 is my favorite. The picture shows the deep love these two feel for each other.

Well done Mike.
