Antiquities with the FA 50/1.4
Lens: 50mm Camera: K20d Photo Location: Vatican Museum, Vatican City Aperture: F1.4
Posted By: Rense, 04-09-2010, 02:25 AM

After reading some comments on the underperformance of the FA 50/1.4 in the lens section,
I thought I'd post some recent photos I've made with this lens in the Vatican Museum in Vatican City/Rome.
They are not all very good. DOF is very limited at f/1.4, and I am still in the process of getting used to this lens.
But I think every Pentaxian should have one, just for these low light circumstances. I love my copy,
although I own it only 2 months now.

As said, these are some photos made in the Vatican Museum. Much antiquities are collected by the
different popes over the years, and these are some of the Roman, Egyptian and Assyrian collections.
If you are ever visiting Rome,

DON'T SKIP THE VATICAN MUSEUM!

It's one of the worlds best places for this kind of stuff...

Nice series, the detail and the DOF you get with that lens is amazing.

Thanks for sharing,

Fine series Rense.
This is a good series to show off what kind of DoF control the FA 50 is capable of.
Good sharpness and contrast too.

Hi Rense,
Very good, its funny how some people say the lens is not so crash hot, yet time and again that is after myth busted with shots like this !

Perhaps one thing I would suggest is to take some of the yellow colour cast off the first few shots so as to bring out some of the finer colours and contrasts.

Well done.
Cheers Neil
