I had some spare time today and managed a shot of this Robin. Common as dirt in these parts but not without interest.

Nice capture Tom. Looks to be a female. Were you able to spot a nest nearby or some nest building activity?

No sign of a nest but several other Robins in the areas suggest there may be some.

Thanks repmar. You're lucky - I get the "dirt" but no interest.

The pond is alive with wildlife at this time. Canada Geese (speaking of common as dirt), Red Wing Blackbirds, Junkos, Sparrows, Chickadees, Cardinals and a few others. The Robin was the only one who wanted his picture taken today so I took the path of least resistance.

Thanks Jer.

I'm pretty comfortable with the M 400/5.6 on the monopd after several months practice. I find I can usually shoot between f11 and f16 if the light is good at ISO 100. I know I could get more depth of field and even more sharpness with the tripod bit it is such a pain in the butt to carry around. By the time I get that rig in place the birds are usually gone.

This is a great perspective, I love taking photos of robins.

Yeah, the dust doesn't look so good though, doesn't the K10D have some kind of dust mapping feature though?

Yes it (the K10) does but obviously it isn't perfect.

The K10 gives it a rattle every time you turn on the camera. I'll have to make sure I clean the sensor before I go out tomorrow. I change lenses frequently and I'm not a diligent with this as I should be.

That is a great shot. I have been trying to take pictures of birds but I can't get them this sharp. I really like how the colors really pop.
