Macro mania at the photo club
Lens: 90mm Camera: K200D Photo Location: Blackwood photo club
Posted By: MoiVous, 04-11-2010, 05:58 AM

Some interesting subjects and the chance to try out some other gear were on the agenda at the macro workshop at the local photo club......all taken with Tamron 90mm with variations as noted

Firstly, a local tree frog (these guys only reproduce in water - the rest of the time its dryland!)

flash (no diffuser), hand held

+ 50mm extension tubes, flash (with diffuser), tripod - this needed very little exposure adjustment compared to the previous shot

Then a couple of plants on a white card background

a mint plant seed stalk.....+ 50mm extension tubes, flash with diffuser, no tripod

Daisy + 50mm extension tubes, flash with diffuser, tripod

And finally, a couple from around the garden yesterday - both without flash, hand held, no extension tubes

Nareen in full sun after a rain shower......

Maple leaf after the rain shower - but in shade....

Must get/make a diffuser for the flash, and use those extension tubes more!

Thanks for looking!

Cheers

Very good work! Excellent sharpness and nice contrast between foreground and background.

I really like frog number two -- the eye is great and the lighting from the left is perfect. Try a square crop to remove unnecessary background?

Very nice work, you did an excellent job with these. My favorite is definitely the last one with the water droplets on the leaves.

The frog is definitely awesome, I really love that one. The rest of them are pretty good too, but I keep going back to the frog.

At the cost to the Kx competition of not giving individual replies.......

Thanks Robin - I might have a fiddle and see what I can do. The lighting was probably serendipity - had never used the soft box before.

Ta Susan - the word Wow has a lot of meaning. I had a Wow- the other night in a photo competition, so this is much better!

Many thanks - glad you liked them. I'm hoping to get some more autumn leaves next weekend - and the forecast is for showers!

Many thanks - I liked the frog too actually! These live around the place all summer. And don't forget we live in a very dry place hot place - summer temps between 30 and 45C during the day. These little guys seek out a moist patch and come out at night to catch the bugs on our windows.

Ok - looks like you've sealed it. The frog win 5 to the maples 3 and the Wows 2 !

Thanks to all who gave feedback and looked!
