New to this K10D and am looking for a lot of help. This was taken at Deer Island, Stonington,ME. One of the many working harbors in Maine. The lens is a 43mm LTD. Comments on everything from composition to PP. will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Looks like a great shot!

we were just in that area this summer and loved it. I enjoyed southern maine the most, especially the York Beach area.
how do you find the k10 as far as carrying it around? (weight wise)

thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks! It's bigger than the Nikon CP8800 I was using but find it very comfortable. Bought a Lowepro slingshot 100 bag and find the combo great. Easy to handle and the P mode is a wonder. Next time you are in Maine you should visit some of the working ports east of the tourist areas.
regards,
Ken

Nice quality to the photo and to the site. I used to live in Coos Bay, OR and that had a totally different feel to the harbor, more industrial at the water's edge whereas here people live nearer the water. Makes for much better photo possibilities.

Looking good, Ken.

Nice photo of a nice serene looking harbour.

Have you thought of trying it in B&W?

Thanks Lance,

Have never tried B & W. Always thought there is much more to a B & W than just clicking a button in Lightroom. Do you know of a good tutorial on the net?

Ken

Nice pics, Ken...I especially like the Birch Harbor shot.

My wife and I spent a weekend in (Belfast) Maine last year...just because she'd never been anywhere north of Pennsylvania and it was St. Pat's. Belfast is a quiet little place (last there when I was 12, which was 30 years ago) and not the typical tourist trap that some of these places have become (i.e. Bar Harbor, etc). Even though it was a cold weekend (wind chill around 10 degrees F), we had a very nice time and took lots of photos. Here's a few shots from our trip...

Belfast Bay (walking along the waterfront):

Moosepoint State Park (a lonely tree along the bay):

Bar Harbor (March is a quiet and almost tourist-free time to go):

We hope to actually move to Maine sometime within the next year or so.
