Red Wing Blackbird

I've yet to get close enough to a Blackbird to get a shot that makes me happy but this one is the best I've managed so far.

Very nice shot, you got alot closer then I ever could. The colors look great and the sharpness is very good as well.

Thanks Tuner but I'm afraid have to disagree on the sharpness. I had to shoot at about 1/80 sec and as I was using a 400mm on a monopd and it was windy it seems a little soft to me. These guys are so black I have some trouble getting the exposure just so for some reason. It does pop out from the background however. I should have shot at ISO 400 and I might have had better results.

I feel your pain, Tom, I haven't had much luck getting a really good shot, either. But you've come closer than I, so I'm (a little) envious!

Well, compared to my shots of birds its very sharp.

I mean given the circumstances I think you did very well. With a wind and a shutter speed that slow it could have been much worse.

This is pretty nice, but yeah it's not the sharpest photo ever.

Keep trying though, I'm sure you'll get the one that you're looking for!

Hi Tom, it's a nice blackbird photo. Not every thing has to be razor sharp for it to be nice photo. Thanks for posting.

I have been told by some very nice people on this forum that not everything has to be sharp. It is a really nice bird and you should be proud of it.

Those Red Wing Black Birds are definately difficult to get close to. All things considered, you did well.

Thanks Scott,

I appreciate the comments. I kind of like the OOF background with this one.
