Whoooo, Whooo

It has been a while since I posted some shots. I got a call from the nieghbor saying he has something he though I should shoot. With the camera silly . Three baby owls have shown up every night for about a week between 8:30P and leave promptly at 9:15p. So I head over with the K10 , sigma 70-200 2.8 and sigma 500 flash. These guys are very friendly. One almost landed on my foot. One flew over my head so close I could feel the wind from his wings. So with little light to focus I was able to get a few shots. All cropped in and tinkered with a bit one way or another. Comments welcomed and also anyone know what kind they are?

Wow I love that second shot. Actually all are really good. Owls are a rarity in my area. Thanks for sharing!

Great pictures Pat. They are all excellent. The first is cute and the fact they are looking in opposite directions adds somthing. The third is an excellent close up. But I think the second is my favourite. It looks like the owl is contemplating action. I'm still learning about North American Birds, but I think they may be juvenile Screech Owls. Any other opinions on identity?

Hi Pat.
I think the shots are great. The difficulty you encountered with the lighting doesn't really show. (of course this coming from a blind man.) I would say you have a typical variety of Screech Owl (or what we call down here in southern PA. A barn owl. really nice captures. I'm glad I looked.

Thanks all for the comments. I really hope to try and get a few more shots of them. I have become a bird watcher over the past few years and these guys or girls are so cool to see. They seem to land in the same spots so maybe I can get some practice foucsing with a flash light as a helper. I will keep you posted. I hope to catch momma owl as soe point, but the niehgbor says he has not scene her in a few days.

Great shots. It must have been very difficult to capture these.
