Hi all,

I think this is some sort of Savannah Sparrow but I'm not sure. They seem to have returned to the area recently. Ornithological/photographic opinions and comments are welcome.

It certainly looks like some species of sparrow.

Thanks Timstone.

No doubt about it being Sparrow. As I look through my Peterson Field guide I can't decide if it is a Lark Sparrow or a Savannah Sparrow.

It definitely looks like some kind of sparrow, but I am not entirely sure. I do however really like the colors and sharpness of the photos. You can see all the little feathers and that is really great. Thanks for sharing these great photos and I look forward in seeing more of your photos.

Thanks guys,

I was pretty pleased with the detail. I would like to nail down the exact kind of Sparrow however.

Still looking for a positive ID on this bird.

Any idea beyond a Sparrow?

This is great, I don't think I've seen a photo of a Sparrow this close up before. It looks like you have a bit of a purple fringing problem on the left side of your photos though, that should be pretty easy to fix though.
