New Blue Heron

Another heron for ya.
Do you think I'm headed in the right direction with my processing?
Should've been lower iso, I know. My excuse? - it was a windy day and I wanted to keep the shutter speed high.
Thanks
Tim

tim.... the k-x really delivers at 1600... very little noise to my tired eyes.. colors vibrant, pic is crisp... i'd only suggest cropping out the left 1/3, to bring the heron into center frame, and larger as well.... beautiful capture !! thanks for sharing, dave m

This one has the kind of weird muddy colors that I didn't like about the first one, the other two that I've seen you from you so far (I just got up, don't know if you posted more) had the kind of processing that I liked, but this one and the first one just don't work right for some reason. I think it's the color of the water that you're putting in that looks closer to the color of the bird than it does to the water that he's standing in should look like.

Very nice looking photo, I personally like the colors as they really make the photo pop from the page. I also like how sharp it is as well and the fact that you took this at ISO 1600 is really amazing. This is a wonderful shot and thanks for sharing.

Fine shot that shows off the amazing abilities of the k-x. However I feel you are leaving some improvement on the table by shooting at iso1600 and 1/2000s for a standing bird. If you could have shot it also at iso400 1/500s I believe you would see better color, better dynamic range. Not a huge change, but enough to notice. That said, I don't own a k-x and am speaking from test data posted with reviews.
