Awww, what a cute little turtle! I like that he seems to pose for your photo and look you right in the eye. Last year we actually found a snapping turtle in our yard and boy was he fun to play with. Hopefully, this little guy played nicer then the guy we found, thanks for sharing.

Looks like a Wood Turtle. In some areas I believe they are a little on the endangered list, not that common anymore.

They are known to be quite intelligent, little animals.

Re: Snapping Turtle...I wouldn't play with these....they can be very quick...head will lunge out very fast and those jaws are very powerful. Best left alone in the water.

When I was a young kid I grabbed about a 40-50 pounder by the tail...I was lucky he didn't grab me by the fingers...LOL...the Snapper just walked away from me...extremely strong....the Snapping Turtle, not me in comparison.

3 of them were found.. He is the only one whos not camera shy.

40-50 pounds! Thats a big turtle eh.. this one is just small about the size of your hand. I put them in a little pond so they wont be lost anymore
