That is so sharp that I looked at it for a whole minute making out the details until I started writing this comment. Your depth of field is literally perfect too. I have no idea how you do this, but you probably have the best bug photos that I have ever seen on PentaxForums, and in a lot of other places on the internet. How do you do that?

Ha thanks, but I wouldn't say that. It was F/18.... I wish I could have had more DOF but I couldn't use a larger F-stop and I dont understand how to focus stack so its the best I could do.

As for how I "do that" what do you mean specifically?

Pentax AF 360 flash used at 1/32 power
Sigma 105mm macro used
reversed M 50mm F1/7 used at F/2.8

Nice use of controlled flash and perfect plane of focus on the eyes. I think you already know that to do better you will need a bellows or similar arrangement for fine positional control, and then get comfy with focus stacking software. Or content yourself with less magnification in order to get more depth of field.

It's fun getting these shots though, isn't it?

Wow, this photo is so sharp I could cut my finger with it! The detail that you captured in his eyes is great and I probably stared at it for a good five minutes just amazed at all the eyes. This is truly a great photo and thanks for sharing it.

how were you able to have a 2:1 magnification?
was this crop or the actual size?
