Joy of Spring
Camera: K10D Photo Location: Southern Ontario
Posted By: JMR, 04-20-2010, 09:26 AM

Here are a few shots to help usher in and celebrate the joy of spring, especially for us photographers.
First is the mysterious old man that guards the park. The light was harsh but the angle perfect for depicting his character and texture.
Then we have an image, done Orton-style, just to help accentuate the feeling of a walk through the park in the spring.
Then our traditional but beautiful buds and blossoms.
Then we have a triple in-camera exposure, for fun and for spring!
Finally, one I really like but where the depth of field could have been better if my eyes were better, since I used manual focus and only managed three flowerettes in focus!

Very nice series of shots, I really like the abstract view on all these daily sights. My favorite is the forth one with all the color and I like how the leaves repeat. It has a very artsy look to it and I really like it alot and thanks for sharing.

The second to last one is something that I don't think I have ever seen before, but I am very intrigued by it. That is an awesome pattern that you found there, and you did such a good job photographing it, what kind of plant is that? Looks like a tree branch to me, but I have never seen the branches so perfect in relation to each other.

A captivating series, as ususal, JMR. Number 4 is incredibly beautiful - I don't know how you do it.

That carving in #1 is really cool. How did you get #2 to come out that way? Almost looks like an IR image. Very cool!

Thanks everyone. No 4 is a kind of bush tree in a wild park. They are just buds before they turn to leaves. It is a triple exposure on a single frame of the same branch and flower. Then processed in PP. Go out and have some fun in the spring, rain, sun or overcast, it's all good.

Its magic! Not really. I combined a BW layer with a colour layer to achieve the IR look, which by the way, is the first time I have heard it described that way. I just experiment until I get something I like. Thanks everyone for the comments.

Well done JMR, you consistently create quite artistic, emotive shots - I enjoy them. My favourites from this set are 3 and 4, very nice!

Very artistic series. I think my favorite one is the fourth for the composition and the colors.
