my little spotted friend
Lens: smc 50mm f/1.4 + 50mm extension tubes Camera: K20D Photo Location: garden ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F11

Found this guy roaming the garden earlier. Thought I'd introduce him to you all.
Shot at 1/180, f/11 and

ISO 100

ISO 200

I used a home-made flash diffuser that reached past the lens to give some nice large overhead lighting.

I also found this guy, but he's ugly

Outside of the fact that your "guy" is a lady (insert smiley face) these are some really nice images.

Very nice set of such a cute little bug! The lighting on these is perfect and even and I don't think that you have done much better. My favorite is that last one with the head shot on the lasy bug, the detail is so sharp that I can see all the little eyes.

Well done!

I love ladybugs, but I never see them anymore. It's so nice to see that they're around and people are taking photos of them. Although I liked them a little bit more before I saw their little bug parts, but they're still pretty, and your photos are great. The fly is a she? How do you know that?

Wow! These are very good! Your homemade flash diffuser looks like it is working very well. What version of the 50mm 1.4 are you using for this. I have a couple 50s and several extension tubes and macro filters but have never got this good of results.

Cheers!

Thanks. I'm using an old SMC 50mm f/1.4 (from the K series). Its from around 1975.
