Blue School Desk and 1872 rules for teachers
Lens: 90mm Camera: K-x Photo Location: Cambridge, MD ISO: 200
Posted By: Eastern Shore Charlie, 04-21-2010, 01:33 AM

I visited an old school house in Cambridge, MD and happen to see this blue school desk that made a nice still life picture...While looking around there was a picture frame with the rules for teachers in 1872. My oh my have the rules changed....I thought everyone would get a kick out of reading them....

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! As a teacher myself, I got a real kick out of those rules.

I'm going to have to forward them to my fellow teachers. Thanks for sharing!

As a teacher myself I really enjoyed reading the rules.
Would just as well like to read rules for the school children of those days. ;-)

I love that marriage and unseemly conduct are both grounds for dismissal. By the way, I love the photo of the blue desk. Nicely done.

Wow, that was a very interesting read! It sure is amazing how much things have changed over the years. I really like your first shot of the blue desk as the color really does make it pop from its surroundings, thanks for sharing.

Just noticed your location. I was stationed at Whidbey Island in the early 60's and a group of us used to go to an old barn near Sedro Wooley that was converted to a dance hall. Think it was called "The Barn"?????? Anyway, I was single then and had a great time.

cardinal43,

The old barn, on Cook Road is still there. I only live about a mile or two from it, and I drive past it every day on the way to work. In fact, Sherrif's cars often park there to watch speeders go by. I know this very well, but was not paying close enough attention a few weeks ago. Luckily, the officer was nice enough to just give me a warning! (-:

I really enjoy going out to Whidbey Island. What a beautiful area! I'll have to post some shots that I took at the entrance of the base their recently.

Good to hear from you!
