I just wanted to share an amazing painting/carving my dear friend Angel made of our dog, Chaya. She used one of my photos as the basis. In fact, she's gone on to use many of my dog photos to create similar paintings. She's started to create quite a name for herself and making lots of sales. And, she's putting a thank you to me on the back of each one.

The nifty part was, when Angel finished up the painting, her and her partner was dog sitting Chaya while we were down in Sacramento. Chaya was often laying down at her feet as she worked on the piece.

It's now happily hanging in our home!

I love the painting. How does she go about painting from a photo? Does she use a specific program? I like the whole idea of painting photographs and she has real talent!

She prints the photo and then etches out the outline with one of those burning pens.... no sure what they're called. Next step is carving out the background, then painting. They usually take her a couple weeks to do.
