I captured a small flock of Canadian Geese crossing a bay, in front of Mt. Baker.

This is very nice, is that Bellingham around the center of the photo? There's a few things that bother me with this though, first off there's not much detail in the background when I want there to be, and Mt. Baker looks slightly out of focus but the rest of the background doesn't really, and your birds aren't really close enough to see, but not far enough to just blend in with the background here.

Close.....Bellingham is about 20 miles further down the coast. That is Burlington-Edison in the background.

I had the auto focus on to try to get the geese in focus. The shore across the bay is significantly closer than Baker, so that probably accounts for the difference in the clarity.

I probably should have changed the aperture for more clarity throughout in the depth of field.

Thanks Jim!

Yep, that is Baker....just a little different angle than you might see her at. (-:

Very interesting picture of silhoutte photography.

IMO, more detail is required for the background to make the picture looks better. Also the background colours is alright, IMO. But can further improved if the sky or the sunlight shone directly and the reflection would enhance the picture more,
Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

Cheers.

This is a very beautiful looking shot! I really like how you captured the geese flying through the picture as it really adds some drama to the image. However, one thing that is bothering me is the noise, if you could run this photo through some NR software it would look much better.
