My first shoot with an experience model:

The only lighting use was the cheesey on-camera flash. Thanks for looking!

for on camera flash number 2 is very good. I like the color, cropping and the angle is interesting. Number one harsh and not very glamorous. Lighting is too direct. Has more of a cropped snapshot look to it. Eye colour in 1 is lost and vibrant in number 2. Comparing the 2 shots, they look like 2 different women. Thanks for sharing

for the crop and angle I like #2, but I'm not a fan of the light. It would be better if it was less red colored.

For picture #1, You should have your camera a bit above eye level.

The second is by far my favorite of the 2... nice, moody lighting, good pose. The first looks like an average on-camera flash shot with above average composition. I think perhaps you could have gotten much more out of your beautiful subject if shooting with some ambient light. Shoot with her again!

As others have already indicated I like the compostiion and pose of #2 better. Howver I do like number #1 as well. I like the framing and the fact that she is looking off to her right and cuting it off at the next keeps the focus on her face. I would try the same pose and try to get more details in the eyes.

I like em both. You should print them to see if the red was too much on no 2.
