3 from Colorado
Posted By: fletcherkane, 07-24-2007, 08:42 AM

Hey guys,
Just returned from a vacation in Rocky Mountain National Park with my family. What a photographers paradise.
It was really a struggle to get my eye out from behind the camera and spend quality time with the kids.
I did manage to get some photos that I really like. Here are three.

Number one is a random mountain stream in the park 1.2 second exposure at f3.5 on the kit lens. I really like this one and will probably hang it on the wall at some point.

Number two is a shot from the Ghost Town of Gold Hill, just outside of Boulder Colorado. Pentax M 50mm 1.4 1/60th sec @ f16. I wish I would have stopped down a bit more. I would have like a little more depth of field, I think. I don't know for sure, because I really like this photo.

Number Three was taken on Bear Lake, Colorado. One of my biggest struggles of the week was creating a good sense of perspective with my mountain landscape shots. With out something in the foreground many shots just looked a bit flat. This one turned out pretty good.

Oh, and btw, all shots were taken with a polarizing filter. That filter rarely left my lenses all week.

C & C always appreciated.

Nice scenery fletcherkane. I love number 1 and the colors and sharpness of number 2.

Nice shots. Great depth to that first picture. I too love the colours of those flowers in 2. Scene in 3 is beautiful but I'm not sure about the dead tree stump, though some foreground interest would be needed, as you say.
