Recently took a trip to Southern Utah, and took what I think are a few fun shots.

C&C are appreciated

Very nice series of shots, I actually had a hard time trying to find a favorite but I decided between the shot with the star trails and the shot of the cliff with that beautiful sky.If you don't mind me asking how long was your shutter speed on the star trails shot?

Thanks,
Cory

Jimbo: Thanks!!!

Tuner: Appreciate that, I had a lot of trouble picking my favorites, you can see more here at Zenfolio | Lloyd Shell Photography

The star trail shutter speed was 1883.6s, though putting "speed" with that long of an exposure is a bit of a misnomer!

Thanks for looking!

Lloyd

Thanks for letting me know, I have never tried an exposure that long before. However, your photo makes it very tempting to try one anyway and see what happens.

Thanks again,
Cory

Someday they will make the entire state of Utah a national park. I'm not familiar with the area you captured so beautfully but I sure want to be. My favorites are the color shots.

Tuner,

Here is some software I am dying to try once I get my intervalometer www.Startrails.de-Home (click on the software tab for the image stacker software.) sometimes you get a lot of noise and other issues with too long of an exposure.

PentX Girl,

Thanks, though perfection may go a little far I like to think I at least sorta captured it!

cupic,

Yes I do!!!!! There are few places I would rather be than Southern Utah.

slowpez,

Jeez I hope they don't make the entire state a NP, only 15% of the state is owned by regular people, the other 85% is either state or federally owned. This area is split between the BLM and Goblin Valley State park, and they do a pretty good job taking care of it. If we let the feds get their hands on things it will be too hard to get into.

to see this area start here: 38 38.573 N 110 44.711 W
and here: 38 34.602 N 110 49.346 W

(copy and paste into Google Maps)

It is a really cool place.... just not in the heat of the summer. Hiked Ding Canyon and Little Wild Horse in August, drank 24oz of Tang, 100 oz of water, and 32oz of Gatorade, and only peed once...

thanks for looking and commenting y'all!
