I just picked up a used copy of this lens!

My smartphone has an ultra wide angle on it (roughly the equivalent of a 10mm), and I found myself often taking pictures with it even when I was carrying my DSLR. I figured - hey, if I like this focal length so much, I should just buy a lens to do it properly. I generally prefer vintage lenses, but it is nearly impossible to get anything this wide from the film/manual era, so I had to take the plunge on one of these new-fangled AF/AE items. :-)

My copy has a later serial number (in the 02XXXX range), likely after Tamron had some time to sort out any pesky QA issues. After reading reviews I was worried about corner sharpness, so I spent some time taking test shots of my bookshelves to see if I could read the lettering on the spines tucked all the way into the corners. Happily everything looks good, even wide open - though for something I'd print and frame, F/7.1-16 looks like the truly usable range.

Other than the fact that my KS-2 is very confused about how to autofocus at 10mm, this is a really fantastic lens. I can't wait to give it a real shakedown and then take it on a trip to the Pacific Northwest in a few weeks.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and sample images. Very happy with my purchase.

Got a used copy for little money, here are my first snaps with it.

K-S2

First one is jpg ooc, the others had their exposure (highlights & shadows), contrast/microcontrast and saturation/vibration adjusted in DxO. I tried not to overdo it too much, but you be the judge as to how good I accomplished that.

24mm, f/4.5, 1/125s, ISO 800 (I think handheld with help of the K-S2s flippy screen)

24mm, f/16, 1/6s, ISO 100, tripod

I'm having blur on the left... Is it normal for this lens, or should I send it to service? May it be repairable without special tools? Sending to service could take months

Hello, it couldn't be the lens but obturator or mirror vibrations. Your background seems dark. You could try again changing speed, or mirror up with tripod
The lens doesn't seem bad...
Thank you

Gift moment in Le Calvaire de Font Romeu, french Pyrénées, with the Tamron 10-24 trying to include the most elements I could (this place is a little rock mountain with no space behind back). about 1800m height .

Tomatos in the garden

This zoom 10-24 is particular, and even if it's not the sharpest, it gives singular feelings, lights, and not in this case ... colors

All three taken on a K-S2 with the Tamron 10-24 @10mm, first two at f/8 and handheld, third at f/22 on a tripod to get a longer exposure without an ND filter (should get myself some in at least 77mm for this lens and the Sigma 17-50/2.8).

Thanks a lot!
Though I'm far from 100% content with all three... Well, some room for improvement for next year

K-S2, Tamron 10-24 @10mm, developed in DxO and tried to straighten in GIMP (which killed the EXIFs, but I think I know why)
