I believe that the camera only recognises shots at 10mm and above. Try shooting at 10mm and above and check the focal length on the exif again. What I am interested in is how do people get around this problem for lens correction in lightroom to work.

Mine just arrived. It is a beautiful lens. When looking at shots in Pentax Silkypix the focal length is left blank, even though in IS mode camera doesn't ask for focal length. Is this normal? Will post some images when There is more time.
thanks

8-16mm accompany me to Malaysia Penang

Got to chance to visit Malaysia Penang before fetching my wife and son back from my in-law place. Was given "2 days off" to do some photo shooting there .
Brought 3 lens over - 8-16mm , 17-50mm and 35mm ... end up 90% of the time 8-16mm was mount to my K5. Seem like I'm getting more and more comfortable to use it then any other lens ..

Below are my personal favorite all from 8-16mm
Hope you guys like it

1# "The Clan Jetties" Located along the Weld Quay are Penang's historical clan Jetties, home to fishermen, traders and dock workers. Build during the 19th century, these traditional house are build over the sea on stilts and are connected by wooden walkways

2# Goddess of Mercy Temple - This temple is dedicated to Kuan Yin. The 1st Foundation was laid in 1728 by Chinese settlers and completed in 1800 ** I did waited for quite a while before all the Pigeon start flying off the ground

3# St George's Church - Built between 1817 and 1818, it said to be the oldest Anglican church in South-east Asia

4# A very popular beach at Penang - Batu Feringgi Beach

- Sunset with Batu Feringgi

-Twilight with Batu Feringgi

5#Batu Maung Fishing Village

#6 Penang Skyline

#7 Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower

#8 ST. ANNE'S CHURCH - A visiting priest, Fr. Adolphe Couellan built a small chapel in 1846. A larger church was built in 2002 to accommodate the annually growing number of pilgrims. The church is named after St.Anne, mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Every year, St Anne's Feast in July is celebrated grandly

#9 Floating Mosque - Malaysia's 1st floating mosque at the sea. The mosque features a blend of local and middle Eastern architecture with a seven-storey minaret

#10 Nine Emperor temple at butterworth

#11 Low tide

I had the same problem. I wandered a whole day in a town with a bag full of lenses and used only the 8-16.

Wow ! The beach shots are really fantastic !
