It arrived yesterday afternoon. I haven't put it through acceptance testing yet but can confirm that it is wide.
What acceptance testing will you be doing? Maybe I need to do some?

Yeah, you should. I'm not tremendously picky or competent in my testing but I do want to shoot around to check out sharpness (corner, edge and at different apertures) AF accuracy and general functionality. If there are issues, you can return it to the dealer or (as I did with my 2nd funky copy of the 50-150) sent it to Sigma to have the issue fixed under warranty.

Here's an unprocessed 100% crop (center, wide open at 8mm). I have sharper lenses and the corners are a bit softer but it's a keeper as far as I'm concerned.

Just received this lens this evening. It's my first auto focus lens ever. All my other lenses are M's, or Taks. Didn't really care about the auto focus, but wanted an ultra wide non FE lens and this seemed to be the one to get. With such a wide angle lens there's not much focusing involved. Probably use it as a manual most of the time anyway. Will shoot some images tomorrow. From what I've seen here in this thread, the images are of outstanding quality.

AF has its greatest use in an Ultrawide, as you will no doubt find out for yourself when you try to manual focus it.

Not for me? I've read same opinion (as mine ) from others also. How do some of you other users feel about it?

I'm perplexed. I like AF on shorter (<100mm) lenses (and longer ones when shooting sports) but hardly think it's essential for UW.
