nice Nick....that is a very realistic rendering to my eye. I can feel the fresh sea air and wind....that is something I don't sense in so many HDR shots. There is a disconnect even if I do like the rendering. But your shot here really works for me.

Out of curiosity did you do a version where you open the shadows just a bit? Or does that, even if using a graduated filter tool, change the feel of the shot too much?
Thanks a lot. Yeah I tried your advice and it works well also, and doesn't really change the mood of the picture.
But I must say I prefer contrasty shots myself

Thanks for trying it out. I too like darker moody shots with nice shadows. I actually find them comforting somehow.

So, that said here is a 180-turn on that with a brighter look with the idea of clean and inviting...

K5, Sigma 8-16mm@8mm, f/9, 2-sec, iso 80

Shot ambient light but still tried to preserve the shadows.

Looks good. Do you find the K-3 makes the most of the lens quality? E.g. is there any difference between that and another camera (assuming you have used it with another one).

Interesting you should ask that, because I've been thinking lately that the K-3 is able to make the most of my DA*16-50, after using it first on my K20D, then on my K-5. As I've only today received the 8-16, I haven't yet tried it on my K-5, but I'll be intrigued to see how different it is with it, let alone the K20D or the *istD!
