Great Shots folks, I sure love this lens, just wish they made it for full frame...

Need to shoot mine more. Adding the K-1 has cut into it's use. Just have to remember it works on ff, down to a certain focal length.

Thanks,

I’m in the same boat, but the K-3iii has reignited my interest in the 8-16.

I'm starting to consider getting a K3 iii as well, my 8-16 will be getting tons of use again, I got the DFA 15-30mm for my K1 and am really liking that set up, but its very heavy, the Sigma on my K3 is way lighter

On the KP. Just got this lens, mostly for real estate, but have just been playing around with it for now.

Seisia beach, 30 July, K3 Sigma 8-16 -first time to shoot in a long time - on a tripod about 12inches above the water level and about 20 inches back from the wash line. There are somethings almost no other lens can do...

I purchased this lens for a specific project involving indoor photography a few years ago. now that i dont do that kind of work regularly the lens sits on the shelf a lot. it is good to know that with three lenses i have all focal lengths covered from 8mm-300mm. Useful when I can start travelling again.

While the winter skies were clear I did some Astrophotography experiments with the Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5~5.6 tonight with a K1. In un-cropped mode, the lens is only really usable at 16mm. Any wider than 16mm and the hood starts showing up in the frame.Though IMO the astigmatism is more problematic.

un-cropped full frame @ 16mm sans optical corrections.

With some artful cropping I was able to diminish the inherent limitations of the lens and produce a passable image.

Pentax K-1 Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5~5.6 EX DC ISO 6400 f/8 t=1m30s (cropped with some dark frame NR applied)

Nothing fancy, Just a Gitzo Series 4L systematic with a manfrotto 405 Geated tripod head. The K-1's built in GPS and Astrotracer mode helped with the rest.

Long story ahead

I recently found a photo I’d taken of my chess set for photography class in 1977 and decided to recreate it using the same set in digital and in color. The assignment was Use Selective Focus. THE ATTACHED PHOTO IS NOT THAT PHOTO! But while I had the set out, dusted off and set up I decided to use it as a project using a variety of lenses I don’t get out very often. This is the shot with the Sigma 8-16 UWA zoom.
