I acquired this recently at keh, when I saw that it was the K 28mm f/2, I did not hesitate and bought it. It was in EX condition and it was lovely, just missing some paint but I can live with that, as long as the optics are flawless. This is what the rendering looks like. No adjustments.

Some really nice images here, from this seldom spoken about wee lens, it doesn't always get the good press that perhaps it deserves.

Agreed.....although it's a heavy lens for a 28. I'm presuming it's seldom on here because of it's rarity and expense......but it's one of my favorites.....

Let's get this thread going again! All these pics are wide open, SOOC JPEG, except for the wide shot, which is at f/16.

The colors and saturation are phenomenal.

A great thread to resurrect--the blues are just hypnotic. I'm curious, though: is the K28/2.0 comparable to the current Zeiss Distagon T*, or was the earlier Distagon sui generis?

From what I've gleaned from my research, the Pentax K and earlier Distagon were identical--same grouping, same number of elements. The current Distagon has more elements and groups.

Thanks for your reply--I wonder if the modern Distagon is a bit more subdued in the way it renders? I always get a "Technicolor" vibe from shots I see from the K28/2.0--maybe analogous to the FA24?--but the current Zeiss "look" seems all business to my eyes.

At any rate, there certainly was an embarrassment of riches at around the 28mm FL there for a while: it would take MasterClass-level LBA to justify owning the K28/2, K28/3.5, and the K30/2.8 at the same time.

At any rate, what we lack in financial discipline we make up for in good taste. I'll look forward to seeing samples, especially from the K's...

Ha, you certainly were "Patient Zero" for a lot of us K-virus victims. Congratulations, but you really need a K20/4 for the K-1, too.
