Some of my Pentax K5ii macros

I've owned and played around with the following macro's and macro-zooms on my Pentax K5ii over the last 2.5 years in order from first experienced to last experienced:
Tamron 90mm Macro
Sigma 28-80 Macro
Sigma EX DG 50mm F2.8 Macro
Sigma 18-250mm Macro
Pentax FA 50mm F2.8 Macro
Kiron 105mm F2.4 Macro
Sigma EX DG 70mm F2.8 Macro

Yes I developed an obsession for Macro lenses but I am feeling better now.
For macro and close focus work my favorites were the Pentax FA 50mm the Sigma 70mm and the Kiron 105 F2.4 Macro with honorable mention to the Sigma 18-250 and the Sigma 28-80 Macro.
Here are some examples all hand held:

Kiron 105mm Macro

Pentax FA 50mm Macro - Really wish Pentax would have made a WR version of this lens. It would make me want to stay with Pentax. It was my favorite Pentax lens period.

This is a "Macro Lens Club" and this image was taken with a macro lens, though clearly not at macro focus.
Tokina AT-X 90mm f2.5 (PK/A mount). Stack of three exposures of approximately 2 minutes each, at ISO 200.

Color version (still learning color post-processing)

Astrophotography is pretty much the "torture test" for any photographic lens. This is a great macro lens.

Something with it at closer range:

Great pictures - love the flower, the comet isn't hard on the eyes either.
What makes Astrophotography such a torture test for lenses?

Thanks UncleVanya!

Stars are pinpoint (or very small) round light sources spread across the field. They will reveal CA and coma in your lens and tell you how much your corners drop off compared to the center, like nothing else.

Gotcha! I have the F 100 f/2.8 and have not yet tackled astrophotography. I have done some Digiscoping of the moon using my Dobsonian 8" and my DSLR but not much else.

I am very happy to have found a new copy of the Sigma 180mm macro. I used to have one that I sell a year ago (to finance my new house), and I found an excellent (not to say MINT) copy for a ridiculous price on ebay:
Sigma APO Macro 180mm F 3 5 EX DG FOR Pentax W BOX Case EXC From Japan | eBay

Stay tuned for new macro photos. The first test shots are very promising !

Here's a shot of a cereal box, handheld with the K-3, original (no PP) and at 1:1

Here are other first test shots with the new lens (handheld)...
the focus is quite good, though noisy (characteristic or those Sigma's I'd say).

Galanthus in Macro view, using the D-FA 100mm f2.8 Macro. Took a lot and may have more to share later.

I really hope we get a D-FA* 180mm Macro in the future from Pentax.... Please?
