No, it's not. It actually has corrective optics in it.
Let me know if you run across one of these extensions.ivan

Excellent stack, Walt. Like the angle, often more interesting than straight head or side shot. Image stacking allows for that!

I tried to do an image stack with the cicada above. For those who have not tried image stacking, this video illustrates
what it's like when everything that can go wrong goes wrong. This video was assembled using shots from the attempted
stack. Problems include non-stable platform, wind, changing light, and movement of insect. I did not realize how much
the insect moved until I reviewed the images. Images cropped, resized in CR6, and video rendered in CS6.

Juvenile praying mantis from about a week ago. Approximately 1/2" (1 cm) long. Small enough to display some translucence.

This individual was preying on the insects attracted to the drips from a hummingbird feeder. Xpost.

Flower closeups with 645/120 f 4.0 macro

From my first series of shots with K-1 and newly received Pentax-A 645 120mm f 4.0 macro. These are more flower closeups than macros, but I think they reveal something of the quality of this medium format lens on Pentax full frame. All were taken in bright midday sun as I couldn't wait for better light, and all at f 4.0 using A/V aperture priority mode.

K-3, DFA 100/2.8 & HD 1.4x TC

This is a tiny spider, perched on an LED light bulb--the tip (above him) is about 2mm wide.

NIce. These little Crab spiders get pretty big as the season wears on. They can also change colors to white/pink or white/brown. You'll see them everywhere in the flowers, but you do have to look. Their camouflage works really well.

Upload to Bug Guide. I suspect it's an immature version of something - I don't know what, though, and haven't a clue.

I've been trying to track down that little arthropod in post 2585. I suspect it is not an insect: no well-defined three body segments, no wings, no antennae.

I though springtail for a moment, but at least in adults the "spring" should be present projecting forward from the tip of the abdomen along the belly, and Collembola have antennae whereas the creature posted seems to have something more like pedipalps = jointed appendages associated with the mouth and feeding. I also thought of "sand/beach flea" (Talitridae, a type of crustacean, not an insect) but none of the images I could find are vaguely like a match.

Following on Ter-or's suggestion that it might be a juvenile, perhaps it's the young of some king of leafhopper which do not seem to have wings in the early instars. Certainly the general gestalt is similar to some leafhoppers.

While I got a lot of images I like this sequence of a butterfly working a flower.
