Thanks much. I think it was more patience on my sister's end who led me to them, and desperation on my end as I didn't get started until close to sunset.
Focusing, even with liveview was "hope I got it" on the last couple of stacks. Since the main subject is red, I underexposed by a stop, manual mode. I processed it several different ways, finally deciding on a higher contrast mood and some shadow, even though the K-1 preserved the detail in most the shadows.
The hard part was the hike straight up the hill with tripod and camera on shoulder after the shoot. The soreness from the brief hike is just about gone now.
Given 20 more minutes, I would have tried to move the tripod closer (topography not real good), then shot regular and pixel shift at f4 or f5.6 (diffraction starts about f5.6 on K-1). That means a whole lot more images, and greater opportunity for error. My final crop is about 17MP out of the K-1's 36MP.
All in all, I'm happy with what I got. And thankful for a sister who took a half hour out of her busy evening to help me get to the subject!
