Here are my first two test stacks using the new Venus 100mm Macro with 2x using available light in the room at f2.8. They show the relative increase in magnification from 1x to 2x, not the sharpness possible with the lens.
The first image shows the orchid with its center at 1x, and at 2x. This gives an idea of the increase in magnification at from 1x to 2x. Image comparison done with Faststone Image Viewer. Each panel shows the corresponding image at 23%.
The second image is an actual pixel crop at 2x. The crop is not the sharpest as exposure was 30 seconds for each frame of the stack, and I used a manual advance macro rail. I struggle to get enough slices at 1x.
I notice over the years that even plants are in constant motion, and a stack that takes too long will likely suffer alignment/focus issues. A well diffused flash will produce the best result.
