Doesn't it? I just find them fascinating. Here's another shot--this time with the FA 50mm f2.8 macro.

Yeah, it looks like it just gobbled something in these shots, and is happily about to digest.

Anyone looking for an inexpensive way to get into 1:1 macro shooting should hit up the bay. There's a tasty Sigma 50mm there for cheap. I'd buy it right this second, but cannot afford to dump more money into glass at this point.

Very pleasant closeups Christian. And a sharp capture Joe. A fine lens indeed.

The probably most common macro lens on this thread, the DA100mm f2.8 1:1.

aliasant-I know how you feel I keep trying to get macro shots of the snow, but it keeps melting when I bring it in the house before I can take the shot!

I did some focus stacking here, shooting 10+ frames at f/8 and fed them into CZM but it came out a mess...I ended up manually merging them in Photoshop. A little rough and very time consuming. I am not sure I like the droplet but I got what I got.

Vivitar 90/2.8 plus Raynox 150 with handheld flash.

Hard work !
Have you tried Zerene Stacker? its a very competent app.

What do you think about IQ when using the Raynox on that great macro lens?
Does the Raynox degrade the IQ and what about f-stops? I dont think the Raynox affects that but I would like someone elses opinion

I just bought a nice Kiron 105mm f2.8 PK/A 1:1Macro that should arrive in a week or two. Then finally I can meet the spring with confidance.

i don't think too hard about degradation but logic suggests that anything that goes in front of a lens is going to have some detrimental effect. I can't say I've noticed anything though.

The problem i've encountered with the stacking is that at that magnification, the field of view and angle of view changes slightly with every turn of the focus ring, such that the frames at one end of the stack are of significantly different size than those at the other end. What I mean is that by the time i am focused on the rear-most part of the image, the front element is much closer to the subject than it was at the front of the stack so the subject has different dimensions. Is there some way to mitigate this issue? Use a macro lens with internal focusing perhaps??

Zerene Stacker will align your images first and then you can use a brush to "paint" thru different layers. Its a much more complicated but also artistic application then any other I have tried with emphases on tried. I dont really use these but have played around with some of them and Zerene is by far the best I have tried so far.
