Just purchased my first macro lens - Lester A Dine 105mm 2.8 and had to test out. I am really pleased with the result and hopefully I will get better the more I use and understand. The only downside I will have to note aperture settings for my records.

Eh. Did you take that excellent image using the Sigma 50-500mm ?
I have the 150-500 Sigma and have been wanting to try it using extension tubes so if thats what you did I would love to hear your thoughts about it. If not...... Keep on shooting

Hi guys,
I think this will be my first photo post here, I've only uploaded images of stuff I'm selling so I figure this is long overdue - but yeah I'm really loving macro so here I am, with my Tamron 90mm f2.8!
Now let's see if I get this right:

If some kind of bug-lover out there could identify either or both of these guys for me - please do!
Shot at the Central Coast in NSW, Australia. The first one was not a 'normal' fly, or a 'normal' bee. I don't think it was either a fly or a bee but I've no idea what it was.

Yes.

I didn't use extension tubes (although that should work) this was just straight from Camera @ 200mm which on the 50-500 is 1:31 magnification, not sure if the 150-500 has the same magnification.

Wow.

I just tested my Sigma 150-500 @500mm / f6.7 closest range ( about 2.2meter) and heres a couple of shots just for comparison.
Im sure someone can do the math to get the mag rate but I dont think I can get close to yours on the 50-500mm.

Note the weird ghosting around some of the white leafs.

Now that`s impressive, shooting butterflies with a supertele...Nice shots and sharpness is quite good.
Not sure what that ghosting is?
