Bentihic Macroinvertebrate

Sampling in-stream insects is a water quality assessment tool but some of the critters are really tiny so I took my FA 50mm f2.8 macro along to see if that might be a help. It was--I would have had no idea what this was (I'm still not certain but think its a very young dragon fly larva.) As a point of reference, the mesh of the net is about 1mm x 2mm. This is pretty massively cropped btw.

Looks like it could be a Mayfly Lavae.
Here's the result of using my "new" macro lens on the K-5.

I think, you were right about the mayfly, btw. I suspect this is the dun (Sigma 105mm macro):


I'm determined to get better photos of these guys but it's going to take a more deliberate approach.
