I found this Pentax 100mm Macro 3.5 in a thrift store and finally got a chance to try it out.

It even works for portraits.

Thanks for the kind words. The images were taken about a half hour before sunset. I used a rather small aperture (f16) for DoF making it appear darker than it actually was.

Was a flash used? If so it didn't seem to bother the little guy.

At this time of year, the big spiders come out, weaving webs with the tensile strength of bungee cords. I keep an eye out for them because spiders give me the creeps. They make good macro subjects, though so I put the FA 200/4 Macro on the K-5. There wasn't enough light for AF so it took a fair bit of shooting to get some keepers. I used the on-board flash for these.

In my experience, the Viv 55 2.8 is one of the best macro lenses that no one seems to know about. Their 135mm f/2.8 close focus is also excellent, excellent 1:2 glass if you can find one, too.
I've got those two lenses .. and the 90mm in the middle (panagor branded version). The 90mm and the 55mm I love, but the 135mm 1:2 is a bit harder to use, fringing and blown out highlights in harsh lighting. I am still looking for a nice hood that might help.

recent photograph with the 90mm panagor:

Nice colors on that first one! And that third one is just plain fun to look at.

Minolta 25mm micro bellows

First time using a Minolta 25mm micro bellows lens. This is a grasshopper eye.

312 Shots
F2.5
Pentax K-5 body
Pentax bellows 140mm extension.
No clue what the magnification was. My guess was around 7-8X.
I could have calculated the magnification but I didn't really care what it was exactly.
Stackshot was used.

Nice shots everyone!

Heres a small series I took yesterday using my converted Canon FD 200mm F4 Macro.
Great lens especially at this range.
