Nice shots Gary - great depth of field.

I'm still working on that in my macros - getting there.

my first focus stacking test... 7 shots merged... obviously not enough, as there are still some out of focus zones - but otherwise this method is pretty fascinating

I just purchased an A 50mm 2.8 macro that arrived yesterday. Found it on ebay attached to a camera and as a result I got a nice price. I love the old K/M/A lenes and am looking forward to trying it out. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.

Good for youI It's the only 50mm I own--easy to bring along 'cause you never know when you'll need a macro.

I used Photoshop. Is there a better tool for stacking?

Photoshop can work well, but Zerene Stacker is an amazing dedicated stacking tool.

Heard of this SW on Thomas Shahan's site... looked at their different versions, and wondering if there are any advantages of the Pro edition over the personal edition (stacker:docs:purchasing [Zerene Stacker]), I wonder if the pro-features are really worth it.

I used the personal edition for a while and found it very capable. Pro has some nice features but as I recall the upgrade price is a good deal. That is, hard to go wrong either way.
