when you get a close image those blooms
Over the years, I've tried sporadically to photograph red-buds but have never come up with anything that comes close to doing them justice. There's an ephemeral quality I find almost impossible to capture.

This is the 2nd version of that lens in f3.5
The 2.8 version was made in Canon / Nikon (nd probably Sigma mount also), and has OS.
None were made in P-K Mount

I'm fairly sure this is a male Xylocopa carpenter bee. The big eyes, broad head and white/yellow clypeus are signs. During redbud blooms the only bumbles out are usually queens. Carpenters, osmia, colletes are all over them, though. Redbuds are great resources for bees.
Fair enough. I stand corrected. Just a sloppy habit of referring to big fuzzy bees generically as bumblebees. FWIW, the plant isn't eastern redbud (cercis canadensis) It's bleeding heart (dicentra spectabilis). The bees' favourite this time of year in my yard is geranium phaeum. I let it cover the lawn and the flowers are just bouncing with bees.

Ah, you get so close and sometimes it's hard to tell which flower is which. The bleeding hearts in the neighborhood are blooming in force now. I don't often see bees on them, but that could just be sampling bias, my not seeing the flowers when they're offering nectar. Maybe that's morning and I walk the dogs in the evening. You may notice the Xylocopa "stealing" nectar by chewing through the flower base to access the nectaries instead of clinging on the end.

The Bombus auricomus bumblebee (yellow terga 2 and 3) are about the same size as Xylocopa, the queens even bigger. They'll be out soon. They seem to time when the shooting stars and even moreso the indigo is blooming.

That is a very impressive series. I'm surprised by the IQ the Kenko maintained.

I waited a long time for this spider to turn profile or head-on, but it just would not cooperate, so I have eight shots or so of its back end. It is tiny, no more than about 3mm. K1 + 200mm SMCA macro, deeply cropped.
